The Children of the New Dawn School, Torpa, was formally started in April 1999 at the request of the local populace as there was no recognized English medium school within a radius of 30 kms. It was started for the district of Khunti, by the foundress of the Mahila Vikas Kendra (Centre for Women’s Development), Padma Shri Sr.Karuna Mary Braganza, a sister belonging to the Society of the Sacred Heart, its Indian Province, and built on land donated by the Diocese.
